Houston Mercedes Guide

Mercedes Service A vs Service B

A clear, no-nonsense breakdown of what your Mercedes-Benz actually needs at each interval — and how much Houston drivers can save by choosing an independent specialist over the dealership.

The basics

What are Service A and Service B?

Mercedes-Benz uses a two-tier maintenance schedule called Service A and Service B. The two alternate over the life of your car. Service A is the lighter, routine visit; Service B is the deeper one with brake fluid, the cabin filter, and a longer inspection.

Your dashboard will tell you which one is coming up — but it won't tell you what's actually being done, or what it should cost. That's what this page is for.

Service A
Every 10,000 miles or 1 year
  • Synthetic motor oil replacement
  • Oil filter replacement
  • All fluid level checks and corrections
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset of the maintenance counter
Service B
Every 20,000 miles or 2 years
  • Everything in Service A, plus:
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange
  • Comprehensive brake inspection
  • Multi-point vehicle inspection
  • Additional model-specific items per your service booklet

Warranty & quality

Will independent service void my Mercedes warranty?

No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a qualified independent shop using Mercedes-approved oil (MB 229.5 / 229.52 spec), approved filters, and the documented factory procedure can perform Service A and B without affecting your warranty. We keep detailed records of every service — mileage, parts, fluids, technician — so your maintenance history is fully documented.

MB-approved fluids

Only spec-correct oil, brake fluid, and coolant.

OE & OEM parts

Genuine or OE-equivalent filters and components.

Transparent pricing

Flat quote up front — no surprise add-ons.
